Pascal’s latest U-A1 and U-A1D amplifier ‘extension modules’ extend the company’s solutions offering to include 3-way studio monitor designs, augmenting its U-PRO series modules to provide an additional HF channel power option.
The U-A1 and U-A1D are single channel amplifier modules without Switch Mode Power Supplies, directly interfacing with U-PRO series modules (from which they draw mains power) to offer 3-channel amplification configurations. The U-A1 and U-A1D offer 280W and 140W RMS ratings, respectively, with +/- 70v – high voltage rails providing ultra-high dynamic range and extensive headroom, for ultra clear, low distortion audiophile sonic performance.
With performance characteristics precisely matching the U-PRO series modules, specifications extend to 119 dB dynamic range, providing the lowest distortion performance of any comparable pro audio amplifier and exceptionally low noise floor, with residual noise effectively inaudible in low ambient noise environments.
With the U-A1 and U-A1D modules measuring half the length of U-PRO series modules, U-PRO + U-A1 or U-A1D solutions offer ultra-compact, low profile, space saving solutions for compact loudspeaker designs. Coupling U-A1 or U-A1D modules with U-PRO series modules extends to 3-way monitor design projects the benefits common across the company’s complete product range. This includes its UREC™ PFC (Power Factor Correction) power supply technology – enabling universal AC mains operation with consistent regulated power worldwide, eliminating susceptibility to local power related reliability issues – as well as the world’s best system efficiency, minimizing the requirement for heat sinks and cooling, and contributing to the amplifier’s long-term reliability.
Supporting modern connectivity requirements, U-PRO modules provide an auxiliary power feed for integrated DSP, network or analog I/O boards. Readouts of protect/mute, temperature and clip signals are accessible for DSP and network or wireless control implementations, and I/O stages. The U-PRO series features ultra low standby power consumption for EuP2013 and green energy star compliance, with an Auto Standby/Wake-up feature with selectable time settings, making the module ready to handle future regulatory requirements.
Referencing the company’s extended offerings for studio monitor design applications, Senior VP of Business Development, Peter Frentz says, “Extending our offering to include 3-way systems fills out our solutions offering for the studio monitor sector.
“Pascal is at the forefront of the understanding of and insight into the requirements of the professional audio market, in terms of the specific application demands for self-powered amplification. Our dedicated designs deliver a performance premium not available from general-purpose, commodity products. It is this vision and engineering premium that makes Pascal the ‘go to’ supplier of amplifiers for all types of self-powered loudspeakers, enabling manufacturers to achieve ever increasing performance and efficiencies, including faster time to market and cost competitiveness, reducing the risk to customers in development projects.”
